Elevated Plasma and Liver tissue Uric Acid Levels in Alloxan Diabetic Rats

Background: Abnormal levels of serum uric acid (UA) causes major health problem due to itspivotal role in the etiology many systemic diseases. Many research works recent past haveshown elevated diabetic subjects. Some reports indicate that elevationis related complications, whereas a few claimed elevation is also seen inpre-diabetic condition.The reason for this and possible insulin inthis regard obscure. Hence study has been undertaken assess status alloxandiabetic rats with an attempt establish cause elevation.
 Methods:The studies were carried out on healthy male Wistar body weight 150-180g. Therats divided into two groups,normal group (Group-1) alloxan (Group-2)with six animals each group. Induction diabetes was done by administering singleintraperitoneal injection freshly prepared aqueous solution Alloxan Monohydrate (150mg/Kg weight) normal saline, overnight fasted rats. After stipulatedperiod 30 days, (Group-1 Group-2) anesthetized using Isoflurane andsacrificed. They dissected immediately liver tissue procured, blotted removeblood stains, placed cold phosphate buffer saline (pH7.4). Blood samples collectedusing heparin as anticoagulant.The plasma, erythrocytes tissueas well ADA plasma estimated.
 Results: A significant(p<0.001) rise increasedlevels observed compared control.
 Conclusion: The increased noticed maybe catabolism purines evidenced activity ADA.
